ExtremeTech trying to make a simple calculation to determine the number of workers who will produce the Samsung Galaxy S III. Media assumes production workers Galaxy S III will be the same as the Apple iPhone, especially iPhone 4S.
A Foxconn worker explained that each production line will produce about 3,500 Apple iPhone 4S unit every day. Within a month, 640 Foxconn employees will be able to produce about 84 000 iPhone.
While Samsung already has 60 production lines with a total of 38 400 workers. Overall employee is capable of producing 5 million units of Samsung Galaxy S III.
If you want to produce as many as 9 million units of Samsung Galaxy S III, then the Samsung only double the number of workers, which is about 76 800 workers.
However, Samsung is more fortunate than Apple to buy spare parts from other vendors. South Korean vendors already have factory parts for the Galaxy S III itself, for example, OLED screen, Exynos processor, RAM and NAND flash up.
Higher salaries
The use of a larger number of employees for this Samsung will certainly have an impact on employee salary expenses. In fact, salaries for employees in South Korea is higher than the salary of employees in China.
Foxconn workers in China producing iPad only paid about 8 dollars per tablet iPad. While workers in South Korea have paid around 34 U.S. dollars per tablet.
While the monthly wage will reach 400 U.S. dollars in China compared with U.S. $ 2,000 for South Korean workers. This means that Samsung would have cost a larger salary.
If the order of 9 million units actually sold, then the Samsung Galaxy S III will be the world's best-selling gadget. The amount will compete with Microsoft Kinect sales of 8 million units in just 60 days. Can Samsung do it?
