16 MP Sensor OmniVision 4K Capable of Recording Video

4K video devices are usually found in high end cinematography. However, OmniVision sensor that is able to release a second video recording resolution up to 4K for a compact camera smartphone.

Companies engaged in the manufacture of digital imaging sensor that has a 1/2-3 inch format, is OV16820 and OV16825 is a sensor in question.

16 MP sensor is capable of video recording 4K (3840x2160) at a speed of 60 fps. Resolution could be improved (4608x3456) at 30 fps rate.

Quoted from Engadget, Saturday (26/05/2012), the sensor is expected to be produced in large quantities in the fourth quarter of this year.
