"We are targeting the most appropriate industry segment (sweet spot)," said general manager of AMD's Global Business Unit, Lisa Su, quoted from Metro Companion Apps. "The targets included mainstream, entry-and, yes, the tablet also is of considerable concern because we believe market growth there."
Launch of "Hondo" is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, close to the time-release tablet Windows 8 is in October.
AMD also planned successor Hondo, "Tamesh", on the basis of the x86 architecture "Jaguar", which will come in 2013.
